SG2 - Signal Proccessing &Telecommunications

Signal Processing and Telecommunications are important disciplines with great history and current dynamics. The big development of these sectors in recent years is not only because of the intrinsic dynamics but also in the rapid developments in computer science. Of course the Φυσικά και η  development of Science and Technology of Computers owes much to the development of these sectors. Besides, the Computing and Communication sectors are inextricably connected and in constant interaction and convergence and essentially become a single scientific and technological arena.

The Signal Processing & Communications Unit (RU-2) was founded on April 2008. Of course the basic team of RU-2 researchers have been has been active under C.T.I. in a variety of fields for over a decade, such as:

  • Development and Theoretical Study of Signal Processing Algorithms and System Identification
  • Multimedia Signal Processing
  • Signal Processing for Communications (Channel Estimation, Synchronization etc)
  • Digital Communications (wireless networks, space-time communications, cognitive radio etc)
  • Array Signal Processing
  • Image Processing and Analysis
  • Sensor Networks (Localization, Transmission of Information etc)
  • Speech Processing
  • Medical Signal & Image Processing

The members of RU-2 have a constant presence in the international scientific community through publications in prestigious scientific and technical journals, presentations of technical papers in international conferences and workshops, participation in Hellenic, European and other international evaluation boards, participation in editorial boards of high impact journals as well as in the program and organizing committees of several scientific events.

Over the last 10 years, under C.T.I., the members of RU-2 have successfully completed many European, Greek, International and Transnational Research and Development projects.

Scientific Director of RU-2 is Professor Kostas BerberidisScientific Consultantis Professor Sergios Theodoridis. The RU-2 is also by comprised four faculty members, three Ph.D. researchers, eight Ph.D. candidates, as well as other external collaborators.
