The Project aims to conduct graded and adaptive examinations using a computer, with the ultimate goal of certifying language proficiency for one of the languages taught to students in Secondary Education (3rd class of Gymnasium), English, French, German or Italian, based on the 6-point scale of language proficiency of the Council of Europe. For this purpose, within the framework of the Project, the necessary work is being implemented and the conditions and infrastructure are being created that will ensure the establishment and maintenance in productive operation of the electronic State Language Certificate (e-KPG), for the conduct of language proficiency certification examinations for students in Secondary Education.
Specifically, the scope of the action includes:
- Production of parameterized and weighted tests of comprehension and production of written and spoken language competencies, as well as written and spoken mediation (at levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2) with the aim of filling “”Digital Task Pools”” for the English, French, German and Italian exams, via computer, which will have adaptive features (i.e. the degree of difficulty of the exam is adapted or modified depending on the level of language proficiency of the candidate)
- Selection and training of evaluators and raters of written and spoken language production skills for the 4 foreign languages. An evaluation process will follow, from which the list of those who will be able to undertake the evaluation / grading of the written and oral texts produced by the candidates during the examination, which will be assigned digitally
- Production of new and at the same time supplementing and upgrading existing supporting material, suitable for preparing students for the e-KPG exams. The self-education material (for students) and training (for teachers) that will be produced, in digital format, aims to cultivate testing strategies for dealing with the specific exams and the relevant guidance of teachers in combination with the familiarization of students with the procedure followed and the certification software
- Development, expansion, upgrading and transition to productive operation of systems, scientific and technological infrastructures for organizing and conducting certification exams, with the electronic exam platform as a reference point. An electronic platform is understood to be the set of systems and subsystems (software for writing, managing and evaluating tests, managing and distributing certification tests, an information system for managing exams and Electronic Exam Centers (EEC), test player, etc.) that will serve the e-KPG for widespread use and operation
- Creation of a network of Electronic Exam Centers (EEC) – where the exams will be held – and the supply of equipment to host the central infrastructure of the electronic exam platform, providing the services of the e-KPG on a large scale, as well as appropriate equipment to be installed in the EECs (headphones, microphones)
- Conducting language proficiency exams, during which the necessary services for organization, coordination, conduct and support as well as grading of student performance will be provided, in combination with the preparation and necessary documentation of the procedures for the implementation of the institutional framework for the operation of the e-KPG
- Operation of committees in accordance with the provisions of the institutional framework, in order to ensure the valid and reliable conduct of examinations
- Financial management of the costs of conducting examinations for the remuneration of the members of the institutional committees, in combination with the responsibilities of the central services of the Ministry of National Education, Religious Affairs and Sports.
- Implementation of necessary activities that will contribute with added value to the implementation and dissemination of the e-KPG
