eTwinning is a flagship action of the European Commission, which promotes educational innovation and nurtures the digital skills of teachers and students. More than 1.5 million teachers (eTwinners) from 46 countries participate in it. By participating in eTwinning, teachers become members of the ‘Community for Schools in Europe’ and benefit from many opportunities for professional development, recognition and reward.
The eTwinning community consists of thousands of educators who share a vision of inclusive schools, using ICT, STEM and Artificial Intelligence in a meaningful way and fostering 21st century skills.
In eTwinning, teachers organize and carry out, through the TwinSpace online environment, activities with their students together with their colleagues from countries participating in the Erasmus+ program. National Support Organizations are responsible for validating user registrations as eTwinners, thus keeping the platform secure, providing support and guidance and recognizing the work of teachers with National and European Quality Labels. Outstanding projects are rewarded with European eTwinning Awards and become part of the project gallery.
Members of the eTwinning community benefit from webinars, online courses (including MOOCs), self-study materials, conferences and other professional development opportunities.
eTwinning also provides opportunities for future teachers to receive support at the start of their careers.
As far as our country is concerned, the Greek eTwinners community consists of more than 45,000 teachers, is very active and its members often receive high-level awards. The community is supported by the National Support Organization of eTwinning operated by the CTI in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports.
