The training under the title «In-service Training of Teachers in the utilization and application of Digital Technologies in the teaching practice» also known as “B-Level ICT Teacher Training”, is addressed to Greek teachers of Primary and Secondary Education, of all specialties, who are grouped into 13 clusters of similar/”related” teacher disciplines, to meet the training needs.

The B-Level ICT Teacher Training aims to empower teachers in the use of digital technologies in their lesson, in a critical and efficient way, for an improved learning result for their students, in the classroom.

In particular, the B-Level ICT Teacher Training is offered in two distinct, consecutive programs:

a. Introductory training for the utilization of ICT in school (B1-Level ICT teacher training, 36 teaching hours) and

b. Advanced training for the utilization and application of ICT in the teaching practice (B2-Level ICT teacher training, 60 teaching hours including activities for preparing “in-class practice”)

which are implemented by “cluster” of teacher disciplines, based on a flexible blended training model, which includes, synchronous face-to-face sessions, synchronous remote sessions and asynchronous activities. The programs are undertaken by B-Level ICT teacher trainers / educators who have been trained and certified for this purpose in University Teacher Training Centers (UTTCs).

This is a popular in the educational community long-term training, with the participation of more than 75,000 teachers up to this day, which started in 2008 and evolves over the years, in terms of content and implementation methodology, taking into account technological and pedagogical developments, feedback and the results of evaluation action, modern studies and good practices, etc.

The training is implemented on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sport, by Computer Technology Institute and Press (CTI) – “Diophantus” acting as the beneficiary, in collaboration with the Institute of Educational Policy (IEP).

Both B1-Level and B2-Level ICT teacher training are followed by certification procedures for the corresponding knowledge, skills and abilities, through digital exams that take place in Universities.
