The physical object of the project concerns the utilization of results from contemporary research initiatives (national and international) and the transfer of the relevant know-how to the operational environment of the Directorate of Information Systems, Applications and Cybersecurity (DISAC), with the aim of establishing frameworks for the responsible, secure, and human-centred use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies within its information systems.
In the context of the rapid integration of AI tools into administrative and educational processes, as well as the increasing use of automated mechanisms for content processing and generation, there is a growing need for clear operational guidelines that ensure the quality and reliability of the produced information, prevent improper or uncontrolled uses, safeguard human judgement and accountability in decision-making, and ensure compliance with the applicable regulatory and institutional framework.
The project focuses on the systematic documentation, analysis, and evaluation of contemporary research findings related to the use of AI in areas such as education, accessibility, language and multimedia content processing, as well as the support of processes through digital systems.
More specifically, the physical object includes:
a) the study and assessment of international and national research directions concerning the responsible use of AI,
b) the translation of relevant knowledge into applicable frameworks, guidelines, and internal practices,
c) the support of DISAC’s operational systems through proposals for the safe and controlled integration of AI functionalities,
d) the strengthening of DISAC’s internal capacity to evaluate, understand, and appropriately use AI technologies by its personnel,
e) the contribution to the development of a shared understanding and a coherent approach regarding the role of AI as a supportive tool rather than a substitute for human judgement.
